Description

The new Barceló Atenea Mar Hotel counts with 91 rooms and is located in the city of Barcelona next to the sea.

The building has a rectangular shape with approximate dimensions of 18.30m x 110.10m. Given its height and its characteristics, two expansion joints have been built that divide the building in three structural blocs.

The two basements are parking lots, in the ground floor is situated the conventions area, access to the hotel, kitchen and restaurant, and all the upper floors of the tower are for the rooms.
The floor slabs are built with reinforced concrete compact slabs of different thickness, depending on the spans and overweight to take in consideration. The vertical structure is built with reinforced concrete pillars in the basements and metallic beams in the floors on gradient.

Given the type of field and the water level, this structural system will have a screen’s foundation in all its perimeter to create bloc area where will be situated the foundation slabs on piles situated under the pillar to absorb the axial forces of the pillars.
