Description

The design and construction of the “Roger de Flor” health center in Barcelona has had the objective of studying, incorporating and promoting criteria for sustainable buildings. This is achieved by using low environmental impact materials and energy saving; and by applying efficient building systems, such as the use of solar energy and total water resources.

The building has been included in SARA project, which pursues the construction of 7 public buildings that are sustainable, economically viable, with a high energetic output and that can be reproduced at large scale anywhere around Europe.

The structure responds to the needs of the project by using reinforced concrete walls, pillars and slabs, and varying their size, thickness and concrete type, depending on the needs of each floor.
