Description
The school is situated in the high urban part of Barcelona, at the foot of Tibidabo mountain. The refurbishment and extension project concerns five punctual interventions on the existing building (opening for stairs and elevator) and the addition of 4 new buildings, all of them in contact with the original one.
One of the biggest challenges of the project has been the execution of the new principal building with 5 skimming ground floors put inside the existing mountain. The other one was to give enough coherence for the extension’s volume to be maintained in harmony with the different existing blocs.
For the structure of the buildings of extension traditional typologies will be used: floor slabs of compact slabs with metallic columns and prestressed concrete to cover the big spans necessary in the new multiuse room.
