Descripción
The new hospital is located in Sucre, Oropeza district, Chuquisaca department, Bolivia.
The layout is based in the generation of different pavilions divided by exterior patios despite having a continuous image from the outside façades.
The foundation is formed by two-direction braced footings. Eventually, there are caissons to get to the resistant layer.
The structural concept is based in the use of reinforced concrete, specially placing columns and shear walls (or cores) to solve the vertical structure and waffle slabs and some edgewise beams to solve the horizontal structure. Therefore, the structure is conceived with low ductility.
To reduce the own weight of the slabs, a lightweight system based on Styrofoam small vaults has been used.
