This project deals with an office building located in Barcelona, which will be renovated and rehabilitated. The building is located at the chamfers of Paseo de Gracia with Ronda San Pere and Casp street and it’s currently in use, although there are some units that are not occupied.
The Palace is made up of two buildings located next to each other forming the chamfer and the project is divided into two parts corresponding to each of the buildings, PG2 and PG4. Given there are several actions to be taken, the structural design is divided into four parts, as follows : initially the implementation of a new elevators core of the building PG2 , afterwards the demolition and stabilization of the façade’s stretch PG4 , excavation and implementation of the new structure of PG4 and finally the consolidation of the structure that corresponds at PG2 . In total, the interventions consist of the execution of perimeter cofferdams with micro piles for the new basement and vertical communications core, shoring and subsequent execution of new metal frames to create more open spaces and, finally, strengthening existing strip footings.
